BARBOUR

Jim Barbour grew up in Rutherford on his family’s ranch helping his father farm grapes, apples
and prunes. All the work, except harvests, were done solely by the family and these
years of work would pay huge dividends for Jim in becoming one of the premier vineyard
managers in the Napa Valley today. After graduating from UC Davis, Jim went to work for
Frank “Laurie” Wood, a pioneering viticulturist, and farmed under him until 1990 when he
started Barbour Vineyard Management. Today Jim and his crew farm vineyards for : Hundred
Acre, Grace Family, Checkerboard, Blankiet, Revana and more. His 3 acre estate vineyard
planted in 1992 with Cabernet (Clone 7) budwood from Grace Family produced the first
vintage of Barbour Vineyards in 1995. Today, this same vineyard along with the Silver Fox
vineyard adjacent to Abreu’s “Cappella Vnyd” in St. Helena produces close to 300 cases
annually. The wines have been made by Celia Welch (Scarecrow) at the Laird facility in Napa.
