OTTAVINO
Owner/winemaker Shalini Sekhar turned from her Master’s degree in flute and piccolo performance to a career in wine. After completing her Enology and Viticulture studies at Fresno State, she began her journey into winemaking marrying the same combination of art and science the fueled her passion in music. After working in the cellar at William Selyem she hired to run Punchdown Cellars and then moved to Buxom Street Winery and ROAR wines where she made wine for Waits-Mast, Furthermore and Neely. She was included in San Francisco Chronicle’s “Winemakers to Watch” in 2019 and awarded Winemaker of the Year at the San Francisco International Wine Competition for her work with Furthermore Pinot Noir. In 2020 Shalini launched the Ottavino label, exploring Gruner Veltliner and other “less planted” varietals in California. We are thrilled to represent these beautiful, non-interventionist wines in our portfolio.
